Are you interested in testing your luck? MTH 165 The Mathematics of Chance: The Odds of Winning dives into the mathematics underlying games of chance and the odds associated with many gaming events. 

This 3-credit online course approaches the concept of probability in layman’s terms as it takes you on a journey through the mathematics of chance, randomness and risk. The class demonstrates mathematical theories behind gambling and games of chance and connects them with casino development and gambling addiction. 

Today’s popular forms of gambling will be discussed, along with the exploration of specific games and the math and counting techniques they are based on. The class will also broach the subject of the local- and state-level economics of casinos and the gaming industry.
