Congratulations on Your Acceptance to Dean!

Experience Dean

You did it—you’re in! Getting accepted to college is a big moment, and choosing where to go next is even bigger. It’s an emotional decision. For both students and families, it often comes down to a few important questions:

  • Will I fit in here?
  • Will I feel supported and welcomed?
  • Will this place help me grow—academically, personally, and professionally?

At Dean, we believe the answer is yes. In fact, our belief in you is at the heart of everything we do. It’s what we call The Dean Difference.

The Dean Difference isn’t about one professor, coach, or class. It’s the community—an entire campus of people who show up every day to cheer you on, believe in you, challenge you, and make sure you don’t lose sight of your dreams.

Our Accepted Student Experience is here to give you a real sense of that spirit—whether you're just down the road or across the country. Explore what interests you. Take it all in. And most of all, start to imagine what it will feel like when you join a college that already believes in you.

WHAT IS HOUSING LIKE? CAN I PICK MY ROOMMATE?

Visit the the Residence Life page to check out housing options. Most freshmen will live in Dean, Ewen, Wallace or Jones Hall. These are traditional-style residence halls with mostly double rooms and a few singles, triples, and quads.

If you would like to request a specific person to be your roommate you will have the opportunity to do so after you submit your housing application. Both roommates need to select each other to be placed together. However, roommate requests are not required.

WHAT SHOULD I BRING WITH ME? CAN I HAVE THINGS SHIPPED TO SCHOOL AHEAD OF TIME?

At New Student Orientation, we will provide you with an extensive list of what to bring. In the meantime, feel free to visit our Living on Campus page for a general list.

We are excited to welcome you to campus this Fall. Our partnership with StorageSquad.com will store and deliver your new student’s items in their first-year housing assignment this Fall. This is a very easy way to make move-in less stressful for you and your family. They offer affordable prices for the entire summer. Reserving your space is simple: go to Dean College Ship to School Service - Storage Squad .

WHAT IS THE FOOD LIKE?

Smith Dining Center

There are a wide variety of options including a deli, grill, salad bar, pizza, daily special entrees, and more. You will have an unlimited dining plan if you live on campus which means you can go to the dining center as often as you’d like and eat as much as you want throughout the day. The Smith Dining Center is open 7:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Monday-Friday and 11:00 a.m. to  6:30 p.m. on weekends. The dining center is very accommodating if you have food allergies or sensitivities. Boomer’s

Open after the dining hall closes until 11:00 p.m., this pub-like option is the place to get what you want when you need that late-night munch, such as wings, subs, salads, burgers, and other grill items. Smoothies, milkshakes, and other beverages are also available. Boomer’s is also the place to go to hang out with friends, play pool and video games, watch sports on the big screen TV and more.

Bulldog Beanery

Featuring Starbucks coffee and other beverages, this café also offers pastries, desserts, express sandwiches, and salads, as well as a full line of bottled beverages.

WHAT IS IT LIKE ON THE WEEKENDS? IS THERE ENOUGH TO DO?

90% of students live on campus and we ensure that there are lots of things to do throughout the week, and especially on the weekend! Hundreds of fun options are offered throughout the year. Our student organizations sponsor programs such as Open Mic Night, BINGO, magicians, comedian, movies and much more. Show your Bulldog spirit by attending athletic teams’ competitions and watch dance and theatre students perform on stage. Boomer’s Game Room is open every day and offers free pool tables, as well as community use of gaming stations (Nintendo Switch and PlayStation). Interested in friendly competition? Join an intramural team such as dodgeball, basketball, futsal, spike ball and more!
