The Sport Management major, within the Dean R. Sanders ‘47 School of Business, leverages coursework from a variety of our top-notch degrees, like:

You’ll learn the proven business principles and organizational management strategies necessary to launch a successful career in sales or marketing; managing sports organizations and venues; working with athletic directors and coaches; and so much more. Dean also offers the following track within the Sport Management Major:

Additionally, the Dean Leadership Institute and the Dean College Center for Business, Entertainment and Sport Management gives students a plethora of networking, internship and career opportunities.
ESports Management and Gaming Administration
Dean College offers an eSports Management and Gaming Administration track, specifically focused on this rapidly growing and lucrative industry. In this track, you’ll learn how eGames are made, team/league management, eSports events planning, and marketing.

As a Sport Management major at Dean College, you’ll gain real-world experience by participating in both on and off-campus opportunities. As the exclusive academic partner of Kraft Sports + Entertainment, the holding company for the New England Patriots and New England Revolution, you will meet with and learn from sports management and industry veterans.
Additionally, the Dean Leadership Institute brings national and international industry leaders to campus who offer unique insight into the business and sports management world.
The Dean College Center for Business, Entertainment and Sport Management gives students exclusive internships with major organizations; access to facilities, stadiums, special events, team practices/training; and the option to participate in a variety of community service projects. Our students have completed internships at leading sports organizations in the area, like the New England Patriots, New England Revolution, Pawtucket Red Sox, Providence Bruins, WEEI Sports Radio and more.

Uniquely Dean
Take advantage of real-world opportunities through the unique programming that the Sport Management program has to offer.
- Complete multiple, for-credit internships with a local or regional professional sports organization or venue such as Patriot Place, New England Patriots, New England Revolution and the Cape Cod Baseball League.
- Tour professional facilities and arenas, such as Gillette Stadium, the New England Revolution Training Center, and Helix Esports at Patriot Place, an esports gaming center and the official practice facility for the Boston Uprising.
- Network with experienced sport management executives through the Dean Leadership Institute, which hosts the Executive Lecture Series and Leadership in Action series throughout the year. Past speakers have included executives from The Kraft Group, Nike and so much more.
- Apply your new skills and knowledge in real-world situations through on- and off-campus consultant projects.
- Explore internships and experiential learning opportunities with The Center for Business, Entertainment and Sport Management.
The greatest thing about Dean is its partnerships with professional teams and a plethora of opportunities for internships in sports, which are so important in order to maximize and find your strengths in such a demanding career. Since graduation, I’ve had the opportunity to work for both Major League Baseball and the National Basketball Association corporate offices – and now the front office of the Brooklyn Nets!
I chose Dean for the resources they offer, giving me the best possible chance to be successful after graduation. As a student-athlete who is a Sport Management major, not only is the team I play for important, but so is how my school can help me with life after college. I am constantly presented with a variety of academic opportunities and internships.
As a dual athlete, many of my coaches have pushed me to try different things and helped me find jobs in sports and athletics, including my internship with the assistant athletic director on campus. I have a lot of opportunities to pursue my goal of working in finance for professional sports.
I was able to work during the sporting events at Dean, take classes in topics like coaching and venue management and intern with the Providence Bruins. I gained firsthand knowledge of the skills I needed to develop in order to be successful in the sports world.
